FOX Reanimates 'The Pitts'
Original sitcom dud starred Dylan Baker and Lizzy Caplan
According to The Hollywood Reporter, FOX is developing three potential animated comedies, including a cartoon version of "The Pitts."
Created by long-time "Simpsons" veteran Mike Scully, "The Pitts" starred Dylan Baker, Kellie Waymire, Lizzy Caplan, David Henrie as an incredibly unlucky family. It aired five times in the spring of 2003.
The show's absurdist take on family life was already darned near animated to begin with and FOX has apparently requested two scripts. If a table-read goes well, FOX may just sent the show straight to series, rather than requesting a formal pilot.
Maybe it isn't too late for FOX to air "The Grubbs" or "The Ortegas."
"The Pitts" isn't the only animated possibility on FOX's slate, though.
"Relative Insanity" was written by Justin Roiland and executive produced by Jack Black. It focuses on a twentysomething guy whose crazy family keeps derailing his attempts at independence.
Also in the mix is "Mothballs," about a dysfunctional family (picking up a theme here?) running a nursing home. "Mothballs" comes from "Drawn Together" creators Matt Silverstein and Dave Jeser and has received a script commitment.
