New Tool Lightens 'Handy Manny's' Load
Grey DeLisle joins the cast that includes Wilmer Valderrama and Tom Kenny
A talking flashlight, voiced by Grey DeLisle, will join the cast of Disney Channel's preschool series "Handy Manny," it was announced at a recording session of the show on Tuesday, July 15.
Flicker the flashlight, una linterna in Spanish according to Manny, is a young tool with appealing freckles. His curious nature works to his advantage since he is still learning English.
Flicker will make his debut sometime in spring 2009. His first words on the show are "Hola" and "Que?"
DeLisle is a veteran voiceover actress and a country singer/songwriter. Her credits include "Rugrats," "The Fairly Odd Parents" and contributions to the albums "Beautiful Dreamer: The Songs of Stephen Foster" and "Anchored in Love: A Tribute to June Carter Cash."
"Handy Manny" follows handyman Manny Garcia, voiced by Wilmer Valderrama of "That '70s Show" fame, as he plies his skills in Sheet Rock Hills with his trusty talking tools that include Pat the hammer ("SpongeBob SquarePants'" Tom Kenny), Felipe the Phillips screwdriver (Carlos Alazraqui), flathead screwdriver Turner (Dee Bradley Baker), Dusty the saw (Kath Soucie), Rusty the wrench (Fred Stoller) and Stretch the tape measure and Squeeze the pliers (both voiced by Nika Futterman).
The show also includes hardware store owner Kelly (Nancy Truman) and candy store owner Mr. Lopart, who is also voiced by Kenny.
