'Hannah Montana' Soundtrack Tops the Charts
It's the first TV soundtrack to debut at No. 1
A week after its Oct. 24th release, the soundtrack debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200, making it the first-ever TV soundtrack to accomplish the feat. It also shipped platinum this week.
This makes the third Walt Disney Records TV soundtrack to crack the Billboard Top 5 this year, after the triple-platinum "High School Musical" soundtrack made it to No. 1 twice (and is the No. 1 best-selling album year-to-date) and "The Cheetah Girls" spent three weeks in the Top 5 in August.
The "Hannah" soundtrack features eight songs performed by Cyrus as her on-screen alter ego, including "The Best of Both Worlds," "Who Said," "Just Like You," "Pumpin' Up the Party," "If We Were a Movie," "I Got Nerve," "The Other Side of Me" and "This Is the Life." She also performs the duet "I Learned From You" with father, who also plays her dad on the show. Jesse McCartney, Click Five, Everlife and B5 contribute other tracks.
The Disney Channel series stars Cyrus as Miley Stewart, a tween who lives with her widowed dad and older brother. When she's not in school or worrying about her social life, she dons a blonde wig to become famous pop star Hannah Montana, a secret identity that her two best friends (Emily Osment, Mitchel Musso) guard faithfully.
