J.J. Abrams Back in Business with ABC
Network grabs pilot from 'Lost' producer
The "Lost" co-creator, whose relationship with the network dates back to "Alias" in 2001, has landed another pilot at the Alphabet. It's the first pilot his company, Bad Robot, has set up at the network since migrating from ABC Studios to Warner Bros. TV last year, the showbiz trade papers note.
The show, from former "Six Feet Under" writer Jill Soloway, is a one-hour dramedy with a rather unusual premise: Tentatively called "Boundaries," it centers on a psychologist who hosts a cable-access show and is way down on her luck. As a result, she takes a job as a notary public, which helps her get her life back on track.
Abrams and Soloway will serve as executive producers along with Bad Robot's Bryan Burk and Kathy Lingg.
In addition to her time on "Six Feet Under," Soloway has worked on several sitcoms, including "The Steve Harvey Show" and "Nikki." She's currently a consulting producer on ABC's "Grey's Anatomy."
Bad Robot is also developing a medical drama at HBO, with Abrams executive producing and possibly directing.
