ABC Shuffles Wednesday Comedies
'Knights' moves out of 'Idol's' way
That's good news for "Knights," but the network's other freshman sitcom, "In Case of Emergency," will stay put opposite the FOX juggernaut for now.
Starting next week, ABC will slide "Knights" back to 8:30 p.m. ET Wednesdays, with veteran sitcom "According to Jim" going face-to-face with "American Idol" at 9 p.m. The net's other two comedies, "George Lopez" and "In Case of Emergency," will stay put at 8 and 9:30 p.m., respectively.
"The Knights of Prosperity," about a group of sub-amateur thieves plotting to rob the palatial apartment of Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger, has earned largely positive reviews but has struggled mightily in the past two weeks against "AI."
After averaging 6.2 million viewers over its first two broadcasts, the show has tumbled to below 4 million viewers the last two weeks. "In Case of Emergency" has similarly struggled.
"Idol" will eventually trim its Wednesday show to a half-hour, theoretically giving "Emergency" the chance to draw a wider audience, but that won't happen for several more weeks.
