The actress was a week overdue and delivered via Caesarean section

Mariska Hargitay has added a third generation to her Hollywood family.

The "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" star, daughter of the late Jayne Mansfield, and her husband, Peter Hermann, welcomed a baby boy Wednesday, June 28 in Los Angeles, according to published reports.

The boy, named August, was delivered at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center by C-section. He was reportedly overdue by a week and weighed a whopping 10 pounds, 9 ounces at birth.

Hargitay, 42, married Hermann, 38, just over a year ago. They met on the set of "SVU," in which she plays Detective Olivia Benson and he's guested several times as attorney Trevor Langan. He recently appeared in the big-screen 9/11 drama "United 93."

Hargitay has been nominated for Emmys in each of the past two years and won a Golden Globe this year for her work on the show.

As a child, Hargitay was in the same car crash that killed her mother, Hollywood icon Mansfield, in 1967.
