'That Girl' guest-starring on ABC series

Emmy winner Marlo Thomas will join the cornucopia of new faces on "Ugly Betty" this fall, signing on for a guest role.

The one-time "That Girl" star will appear in an episode (there's no airdate yet) of the ABC series as the owner of a jewelry company, the network says. Her eye for the finer things encompasses younger men -- specifically Daniel Meade (Eric Mabius), who's out to win her business for Mode magazine.

Complications, we're guessing, will ensue.

Thomas is one of several new additions to "Ugly Betty," which is becoming a guest-star magnet. Freddy Rodriguez ("Six Feet Under") and David Blue will have recurring parts on the show, and Victoria Beckham will have a cameo as herself a little later in the season.

Thomas has won three Primetime Emmys -- most recently for 1988 kids' program "Free to Be ... a Family" -- and a Daytime Emmy in her career. In addition to starring in the iconic "That Girl" in the 1960s, her credits also include recurring parts on "Friends" and "Law & Order: SVU" and a number of TV movies. One of her Emmy wins was for the 1986 CBS film "Nobody's Child."
