Pilots: McG Up for 'Chuck'
Henstridge joins 'Eli Stone' cast
The "We Are Marshall" director has re-teamed with Schwartz to helm an NBC pilot called "Chuck," according to The Hollywood Reporter. The CW has also greenlit a pair of pilots, CBS has ordered a drama about a Latino family and on the casting front, ABC has added Natasha Henstridge to its drama "Eli Stone."
"Chuck" is a drama laced with humor about young spies co-written by Schwartz and Chris Fedak. In addition to directing, McG will serve as an executive producer with Schwartz, while Fedak and Peter Johnson will co-exec produce.
The CW, which had only two new dramas in its inaugural season -- the already-cancelled "Runaway" and the yet-to-premiere "Hidden Palms" -- has given the go-ahead to two more projects. "Reaper" is about a young man who becomes a bounty hunter for Satan, capturing souls who've made their way back to Earth from hell.
Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters ("Law & Order: SVU") wrote the pilot and will executive produce with Mark Gordon and Deborah Spera ("Grey's Anatomy").
The other project is a presentation called "Gravity," about rookie cops in Los Angeles. It comes from writer Caleb Kane and exec producers Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey of DreamWorks.
CBS, meanwhile, has ordered "Los Duques," a soap about a family that's in the rum business. Writer Cynthia Cidre ("The Mambo Kings") is exec producing with Jonathan Prince ("American Dreams"), Jimmy Iovine and Polly Anthony.
At ABC, Henstridge ("Commander in Chief") has joined Jonny Lee Miller and Victor Garber in "Eli Stone," about a lawyer (Miller) who thinks he's a prophet. She'll play Miller's fiancee and Garber's daughter. Sam Jaeger ("Catch and Release") has also joined the cast.
NBC has added Michael Rispoli ("The Sorpanos") and David Call to its cop drama "Fort Pit," joining "24" veteran James Badge Dale.
