Pilots: 'Boardwalk Empire' Recruits Michael Pitt
'Funny Games' actor joins Steve Buscemi in HBO project
Pitt ("Funny Games," "The Village") will play a World War I veteran in the drama pilot, which "Sopranos" alumnus Terence Winter is writing and Martin Scorsese will direct. The show, based on a book by Nelson Johnson, is about the rise of Atlantic City in the 1920s.
Buscemi plays a businessman named Nucky Johnson who turns bootlegger during Prohibition. Pitt, according to The Hollywood Reporter, will play a low-level member of Johnson's organization who's eager to move up.
Macdonald is playing a recently arrived immigrant who's unhappy in her marriage.
Buscemi and Pitt worked together in the indie film "Delirious," which made the festival rounds and had a small theatrical release in 2007. Pitt's other credits include "Murder by Numbers," "Last Days," "Silk" and a recurring role on "Dawson's Creek."
