Pilots: Mohr Plays it Straight
It's either a comedy, 'Ghost Whisperer' or a talent deal for Mohr
Mohr will play the straight half of a gay-straight writing duo in an untitled series from gay-straight writing duo Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, the folks who brought you "Four Kings" and "Good Morning Miami." The Notorious B.A.G., Brian Austin Green, was previously cast as the gay half of the duo.
In addition, the pilot stars Vanessa Lengies ("American Dreams") and Jessica Capshaw ("Bones," "The L Word") as two of the women who work with the central writers.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, if the pilot doesn't go to series, Mohr will be bumped from recurring to regular on CBS' "The Ghost Whisperer" (should the series be picked up for a third season). In addition, the "Action!" and "Last Comic Standing" star will move into a talent development deal with CBS Paramount TV.
In other pilot news, FOX has changed the title of its already-picked-up comedy "Action News" to "Back to You." The comedy, set behind-the-scenes at a local TV station, features Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton as bickering anchors. Also, the pilot roles originally filled by Paul Campbell and Aimee Garcia -- the network's news director and weather girl -- will now be played by Josh Gad and Ayda Field.
