Remake, spinoff or sequel? The CW insists it's a spinoff, not a remake.

Source material: Seminal '90s teen soap " Beverly Hills, 90210," which aired on FOX from 1990-2000.

What's new: Some diversity in the cast -- one of the regular characters is African-American, another is Persian -- and a promise by the producers to make the grown-ups (chief among them Lori Loughlin and Rob Estes) a more important part of the show.

What's not: The kids still attend the fictional West Beverly High. You'll see several familiar faces in recurring parts, including Kelly Taylor ( Jennie Garth), Brenda Walsh ( Shannen Doherty) and Peach Pit owner Nat (Joe E. Tata).
