ABC's New Shows for the 2007-08 Season

ABC's New Shows for the 2007-08 Season: Womens Murder Club

Premieres: Friday, Oct. 12
Airs: Fridays at 9 p.m.

The Pitch: That would be a club to solve murders, not commit them.

Based on James Pattersons series of novels, Womens Murder Club follows a San Francisco police detective (Angie Harmon), medical examiner (Paula Newsome), prosecutor (Laura Harris) and reporter (Aubrey Dollar) who pool their resources to crack tough murder cases.

What They Got Right: A crime show with all female leads is certainly something of a novelty these days, and on that alone its worth at least a look. The pilot also hints at some chances for character-based stories along with the mystery of the week.

Whats Oh, So Wrong: The crime-and-character juxtaposition sometimes feels a bit awkward, as the women jump from talking about grisly acts of violence to dissecting each others relationships. And isnt it kind of illegal, or at least unethical, to share information like they do?

Recommended If ...: Pattersons books fill your shelves.
