Carpoolers
Premieres: Tuesday, Oct. 2
Airs: Tuesdays at 8:30 p.m.
The Pitch: Because nothing says "comedy" like the diamond lane.
A group of suburban men (Fred Goss, Jerry O'Connell, Jerry Minor and Tim Peper), stressed out at work and downtrodden at home, find solace in each other during the time they share on their commute to and from the office.
What They Got Right: Goss and Faith Ford, who plays his wife, play off each other like the pros they are. Creator and former Kid in the Hall Bruce McCulloch adds a couple of nice absurdist touches, such as the opening sing-along in the pilot.
What's Oh, So Wrong: There's a disjointedness to the pilot that's hard to shake, bouncing as it does between the guys' relationship and their various home lives. Aside from Ford, none of the other characters outside the carpool are more than a sketch.
Recommended If ...: You're a "Kids in the Hall" completist or a fan of Goss' previous work on "Sons & Daughters."
