The Pitch: Female "Big Shots," from the creator of "Sex and the City."
ABC's final show of the fall focuses on four women -- played by Lucy Liu, Frances O'Connor, Bonnie Somerville and Miranda Otto -- at or near the top of the corporate ladder in New York City. But you know the drill: For all their professional success, their personal lives aren't nearly as neat.
What They Got Right: Despite its DNA -- a New York location, "SATC" creator Darren Star as an exec producer -- the show manages not to feel quite like just another "Sex and the City" clone. It's a little more grounded than that, focusing (nearly) equally on its characters' careers and their love lives.
What's Oh, So Wrong: That said, it's missing the spark that "Sex and the City" had at its best. For people with so many advantages, the four women at its center are awfully bummed out, and that doesn't make for a very pleasant viewing experience.
Recommended If ...: You believe in both Darren Star and the four-women-in-New York formula.
