Dirty Sexy Money
Wednesday, Sept. 26
Wednesdays at 10 p.m.
The rich are different from you and me.
Lawyer Nick George (Peter Krause, "Six Feet Under") vowed never to get mixed up with his father's biggest and most scandalous clients, New York's obscenely wealthy Darling family. Following his dad's death, though, Nick gets an offer he can't refuse from Darling patriarch Tripp (Donald Sutherland) and goes to work for the family.
What They Got Right:
True to its title, "Dirty Sexy Money" goes a little bit over the top -- but not so far that it becomes an instant self-parody. Krause does fine work as Nick, who's extremely wary of the Darlings yet can't help being a little seduced by them, and the cast, which also includes William Baldwin, Jill Clayburgh and Zoe McLellan, is top-to-bottom good.
What's Oh, So Wrong:
A couple of characters, like Glenn Fitzgerald's unbalanced priest and Samaire Armstrong's dippy socialite, seem too broad for the rest of the show. They need to be reined in, and the writers need to guard against going too campy too quickly.

You still hold fond memories of the Ewings and Carringtons.
