The Pitch: "Grey's Anatomy" for grownups.
Dr. Addison Montgomery (Kate Walsh) leaves Seattle behind and moves to Los Angeles to join a multi-specialty practice with some old medical-school friends, the recently divorced Naomi (Audra McDonald) and Sam (Taye Diggs) Bennett. The practice also includes an alternative-medicine practitioner (Tim Daly), a psychiatrist (Amy Brenneman), a pediatrician (Paul Adelstein) and an easygoing receptionist (Chris Lowell).
What They Got Right: It's hard not to like that cast, and Walsh has shown herself very capable of handling the demands of a lead role. There's a lot of potential for more grown-up storytelling than on "Grey's," from which it's spun.
What's Oh, So Wrong: In the spinoff episode last spring, much of the strength and decisiveness that makes Addison so appealing seemed to melt in the Southern California sun. That needs to return, and the rest of the characters need to be more fully formed.
Recommended If ...: The full-fledged doctors on "Grey's" interest you more than the interns.
