PILOT SEASON
Hudson Climbs Pilot Mountain
Marion Ross, Kaley Cuoco also cast
LOS ANGELES --Hudson, who most recently starred in The WB's short-lived drama "The Mountain," will give comedy a shot in the CBS pilot "The Weekend." Also signing up for pilot duty are "Happy Days" alum Marion Ross, "Charmed" star Kaley Cuoco and "Cinderella Man's" Craig Bierko, the showbiz trade papers report.
"The Weekend" is a single-camera comedy about three friends who live for their two days off. Hudson, who co-stars in NBC's "10.5: Apocalypse," will play one of the trio, alongside Kevin Hart ("Scary Movie 3") and Chris O'Dowd.
Ross, a five-time Emmy nominee best known as Mrs. Cunningham on "Happy Days," will co-star in the NBC comedy "Community Service" as an eccentric resident of the Ohio town where an arrogant New Yorker (Jay Mohr) finds himself stuck after following a woman (Brittany Daniel) there.
Also at NBC, Bierko has replaced Bruno Campos (who moved onto "The Wedding Album" at FOX) in an untitled comedy about brothers -- one an FBI agent, the other a thief -- who live next door to one another. It would be the first regular role for him since the ABC drama "The Court" in 2002.
Finally, Cuoco is moving on from "Charmed," which is in its last season on The WB, to an ABC comedy about sisters who grew up separately -- one rich, one poor. Cuoco, who also starred in ABC's "8 Simple Rules," will star opposite Marisa Coughlan ("Boston Legal"); the two also co-star in the independent film "Farewell Bender."
