Brazilian Star Gets 'Lost'
Santoro joining ABC series' third season
Santoro has signed on as a regular for the third season of ABC's hit series, the network says. In keeping with the m.o. of most things "Lost," however, there's next to no information on what his role will be and how his character will fit into the show's complex web of stories.
Santoro's English-language credits include "Love Actually," in which he was the object of Laura Linney's affections, "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle" and the HBO movie "The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone." He also starred in a Baz Luhrmann-directed Chanel No. 5 commercial with Nicole Kidman.
In his home country, he's been compared to Tom Cruise and has starred in a number of movies and TV series -- including "Behind the Sun," a film by "Motorcycle Diaries" director Walter Salles that was nominated for a Golden Globe for best foreign film in 2002.
"Lost" begins its third season on ABC Wednesday, Oct. 4. The show will run for six weeks, then take 13 weeks off for the new series "Day Break" and return in early 2007 for an unbroken run of episodes through the end of the season.
