Pilots: Roger Bart Lays Down Law at ABC
Also, NBC orders comedy from '30 Rock' scribe
Bart, who played homicidal pharmacist George Williams on ABC's "Desperate Housewives" in 2005-06, is joining David Hemingson's untitled legal drama. Elsewhere in the pilot landscape, NBC has ordered a comedy from "30 Rock" writer Jon Pollack, the showbiz trade papers report.
The Hemingson show takes place at a high-end Los Angeles law firm and is told through the eyes of a new associate (Matt Long, "Jack & Bobby"). Bart, who's currently starring in "Young Frankenstein" on Broadway, will play a partner in the firm whose wife also works there. The show's cast also includes Morena Baccarin, Norbert Leo Butz and Ben Lawson.
In addition to "Desperate Housewives," Bart's credits include "American Gangster," "Hostel: Part II," "The Lost Room" and "Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay."
Elsewhere, NBC has handed out the first pilot order since the upfronts to Pollack for a workplace comedy about a woman working in the mostly male hedge-fund industry. In addition to "30 Rock," Pollack has worked on "Andy Barker, P.I.," "Joey" and "Father of the Pride."
