Sharon Osbourne Tapped for 'Talent'
She replaces Brandy as judge on NBC series
NBC has confirmed that Sharon Osbourne will take over for singer-actress Brandy as a judge for the show's second season, which opens Tuesday, May 29. She'll join new host Jerry Springer and returning judges David Hasselhoff and Piers Morgan, who like Osbourne is a native of England.
"Sharon Osbourne is show business personified, and she has seen and done it all," says Craig Plestis, NBC's head of alternative programming. "She will make an excellent fit with David and Piers, who we're delighted to have back for another great season."
Executive producer Simon Cowell also is glad to have Ozzy's wife aboard: "On this show," he says, "it just had to be Sharon Osbourne."
Osbourne has worked with Cowell before, serving with him as a judge on the British talent search "The X Factor" (which Cowell's company also produced). Since becoming a household name thanks to MTV's "The Osbournes," she has also hosted talk shows both here and in the U.K., guest-starred on "Will & Grace" and "Days of Our Lives" and written an autobiography.
She's also worked behind the scenes in the music industry, managing her husband's career and those of several other bands and helping launch the Ozzfest tour.
