CBS' 'Swingtown' Takes Shor Leave
Kranz joins 'The Captain'
Shor will take one of the featured roles in "Swingtown," an ensemble drama about partner-swapping set in the suburbs in the '70s. The "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" actress will play an insecure housewife involved in neighborhood politics. The pilot will also feature Jack Davenport, Grant Show and Lana Parrilla.
Of course, Shor's involvement in the "Swingtown" pilot is in second position to her current ABC comedy "Big Day," should that series be brought back for a second season. That was a little joke there.
Kranz is taking the lead in the comedy "The Captain." According to The Hollywood Reporter, he'll play a young filmmaker whose writer's block is unplugged by the eccentrics in his apartment building.
Late last year, Kranz ("The Village") was cast in CBS' untitled Christine Taylor comedy. Given that both Kranz and Jane Lynch have exited that Ben Stiller-produced vehicle, it may be D.O.A.
In other casting news, Ramon Rodriguez ("Daybreak") has been cast as a confident male nurse in FOX's drama "Philadelphia General."
