'My Boys' Keep Playing at TBS
Network picks up new season of comedy
The cable network is picking up its comedy "My Boys" for what will technically be its second season. The show's first 13 episodes aired late last year, and TBS then ordered nine more that ran this summer; the season finale aired Monday night (Sept. 10).
The new season is expected to get an initial order of eight episodes, several media outlets report.
"My Boys" stars Jordana Spiro as a Chicago sportswriter who balances a fitful search for romance and time spent with a group of of (mostly) platonic guy friends. The cast also includes Jim Gaffigan, Kyle Howard, Kellee Stewart, Jamie Kaler, Reid Scott and Michael Bunin.
The show drew 1.5 million viewers per week on its initial airing this summer, an improvement of about 100,000 viewers over its average in late 2006. Its ratings among TBS' target young-adult audience also improved some.
TBS also renewed the family comedy "The Bill Engvall Show" last week and has an ongoing commitment to its third original sitcom, "Tyler Perry's House of Payne."
