CW Says Aloha to Hawaii Affiliate
New network will launch in the Islands on Oct. 30
The CW will now get airtime in Hawaii thanks to a long-term affiliation agreement the network signed with the Montecito Broadcast Group for the digital station KNON-DT of Honolulu.
Although the CW won't be available in its full capacity until Monday, Oct. 30, four shows will air Tuesday and Wednesday night as a preview. On Tuesday, Oct. 24, "Gilmore Girls" and "Veronica Mars" will air, and "America's Next Top Model" and "One Tree Hill" will follow the next night.
CW's regularly scheduled programs will then premiere beginning at 3 p.m. on Monday. A digital set-top box -- but not a digital cable subscription -- will be necessary to receive the network. Satellite TV subscribers are currently out luck.
The CW has been missing from the Hawaii market since it launched on Wednesday, Sept. 20. Honolulu is the 72nd largest market in the country.
