Actress' mother was also there to meet the new arrival

Just in time for Tori Spelling's second reality show attempt, the actress has had a blessed event worthy of coverage.

Spelling and her husband Dean McDermott welcomed a son into their family on Tuesday, March 13, reports People.

The baby, the couple's first child together, was born in a Los Angeles hospital and weighed 6 lbs., 6 oz. He has been named Liam Aaron McDermott, with his middle name as a tribute to Spelling's late father, legendary TV producer Aaron Spelling.

"They're all really happy and everybody's resting now. Tori and the baby are healthy," says the couple's rep.

The event coincides with a recent reconciliation with Spelling's mother Candy following a long estrangement.

"Words can't describe the joy and elation I feel at this truly happy event," Candy Spelling tells the magazine. "I am looking forward to doting on my new little grandson and all the memorable fun that comes with it."

Spelling, 33, and McDermott, 40, met on the Ottawa set of the TV movie "Mind Over Murder" in 2005. Both were married to other people at the time -- Spelling to actor-writer Charlie Shanian, and McDermott to Canadian TV personality Mary Jo Eustace. Divorces soon followed, and the new couple married in Fiji the following May.

McDermott has a son, Jack, with Eustace, with whom he also adopted a daughter right before meeting Spelling. He is no longer the girl's legally adoptive father.

Spelling is best known as the virginal Donna Martin on "Beverly Hills, 90210," which was produced by her father, the late Aaron Spelling. Her other credits include various TV movies, the short-lived sitcom "The Help," "The House of Yes," "Trick," "Scary Movie 2" and the prophetically named "50 Ways to Leave Your Lover." She most recently starred as a fictionalized version of herself on VH1's "so noTORIous" and held a yard sale so she could downsize and make room for all the onesies and diapers she'll need.

Caring for the baby has increased their responsibilities now that they own the Chateau La Rue bed and breakfast, which is the focus of Spelling's new reality sho, "Tori & Dean: Inn Love," premiering on Oxygen on Tuesday, March 20. The inn, which is named after Spelling's pug Mimi La Rue, is about 100 miles southeast of Los Angeles in Fallbrook, Calif.
