TV Land Renews 'High School Reunion'
Transplanted reality show will premiere second or fifth season in early 2009
TV Land is renewing the reality series "High School Reunion" for what the cable network is calling a second season.Ha. Fans of The WB know better.
Through its first four episodes, TV Land's "High School Reunion" has averaged 767,000 viewers, with the latest installment approaching 800,000 viewers. The show's viewership is 12 percent above the channel's average, with a median age of 46.
"High School Reunion" actually aired for three seasons on The WB, where its reuniting classmates were getting back together after 10 years out of high school. As befits TV Land's core demo of viewers 40-to-54, the new incarnation's students are reuniting for an exotic vacation getaway after 20 years, with somewhat similar consequences.
"TV Land viewers can't get enough of 'High School Reunion,'" states Larry W. Jones, president, TV Land. "The show continues to build a new audience for TV Land and create buzz. We can't wait to introduce our viewers to a new reunited class as they reconnect with old friends and forge new relationships to make great television."
The new season of "High School Reunion" will premiere in the first quarter of 2009 and will, like The WB series, be executive produced by Mike Fleiss.
"I'm thrilled that 'High School Reunion' connected with viewers in such a big way," Fleiss says. "I'm also very excited to be doing the show again with my friends at TV Land."
