Series features 11 former 'Lifers'

Just as "The Real World" and "Road Rules" spawned competition-based shows for former participants, so now will VH1's downslope-of-fame counterpart to those shows, "The Surreal Life."

Eleven former "Surreal Life" subjects, dating back to the show's days on The WB, will come together next month to take part in "The Surreal Life Fame Games," a series of "tongue-in-cheek" competitions that will test the players' ability to navigate the waters of demi-celebrity.

Events will include such grueling tests as the "Scandal Video Film Festival" and the mental gymnastics of "What's Charo Saying?" Winning players will get to stay on the "A-list" side of a Las Vegas house, where they'll enjoy such amenities as fancy meals and tennis lessons from a pro. Losers will be consigned to the "B-list" side, with ping-pong and crackers.

The winner will walk away with a $100,000 prize.

The 11 contestants taking part in the "Fame Games" are Verne Troyer, Brigitte Nielsen, Ron Jeremy, Chyna Doll, Emmanuel Lewis, Vanilla Ice, Traci Bingham, Pepa, C.C. DeVille, Andrea Lowell and Jordan Knight. "Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous" host Robin Leach will serve as master of ceremonies.

The show premieres at 9 p.m. ET Sunday, Jan. 7.
