Posh Spice gets cameo on ABC show

The phrase "always a bridesmaid, never a bride" doesn't much apply to the likes of Victoria Beckham, who's not had too much trouble getting what she wants out of life.

Playing a bridesmaid, though, that's another matter.

ABC on Thursday confirmed the widely circulated news that Beckham -- or Posh Spice, if you prefer -- will have a cameo on "Ugly Betty" in the coming season. An airdate hasn't been set, but her episode will film in the fall.

She'll be playing herself, and herself is a bridesmaid at the gala wedding of Wilhelmina Slater (Vanessa Williams) and Bradford Meade (Alan Dale). Complications, we're guessing, will ensue.

The "Ugly Betty" cameo will be Beckham's first acting turn on an American TV series. She was also the subject of an unscripted NBC special in July.

"Ugly Betty" opens its second season on ABC Thursday, Sept. 27.
