Ex-'24' star does double pilot duty
Xander Berkeley joins NBC, ABC projects
Berkeley, who played CTU boss George Mason on the first two seasons of "24," will be a regular on NBC's disaster drama "Day One," according to The Hollywood Reporter. He's also guest-starring in the ABC pilot "Inside the Box," in a role that would be recurring if the show makes it to series.
If both shows get picked up, Berkeley could be in for some serious schedule-juggling. The shows come from two different studios ("Day One" is a Universal Media Studios production, and "Inside the Box" comes from ABC Studios).
"Day One," created by writer-producer Jesse Alexander ("Heroes"), is about residents of an apartment building who survive a catastrophe. Berkeley will play a man who is injured in the disaster and whose daughter is missing. "Inside the Box," which "Grey's Anatomy" creator Shonda Rhimes is executive producing, follows the life and work of a TV news producer (Indira Varma) in Washington. Berkeley will play her boss at the network.
In addition to "24," Berkeley has recurred on "CSI" as Sheriff Rory Atwater. He also has numerous guest spots to his credit on shows including "Law & Order: SVU," "Criminal Minds," "Bones" and "The Mentalist."
