Every week, we tell you who's looking good on TV and how you can do the same.
TV Fashion: Jim Cramer of 'Mad Money'
Financially Fit to be Tied Buy low. Sell high. It makes sense even to the slowest of minds. But doing it is a thousand times harder than we'd like it to be. That's why the world needs Jim Cramer of CNBC's daily "Mad Money." He explains what's happening in today's financial markets in a calm and soothing manner that doesn't make you panic when your life savings could possibly go the way of Enron. Harmonius Dweeb Chic Music, as a career path, tends to make people dress weirdly. Elvis, M.C. Hammer and Bjork all made sartorial choices which left us scratching our heads. But today's musicians, even ones in television series like HBO's "Flight of the Conchords," are walking a runway of awkward dweebdom that looks like they've raided the closet of their hipster aunt circa 1973. Blazing a path for sanity's sake If you've ever been lucky enough to befriend a shrink, it'll come as no surprise to you that a majority of them are at least as crazy as the rest of us. The old chestnut "Do as I say, not as I do" seems to apply on a consistent basis. But for Dr. Ann Bellowes of Lifetime's "State of Mind," airing Sundays, dressing as she does seems to make a lot of sense. Read more »TV Fashion: Shaun Yost of 'John From Cincinnati'
Surfing for the latest beachwear You don't normally associate Cincinnati with surfing, but those crazy kids over at HBO aren't really what you might call traditionalists. Then again, just because you call a show "John From Cincinnati" – which airs Sundays – there's no reason to think you have to base it there. And so we find the Yosts, a brilliant clan of surfers, residing in the coastal town of Imperial Beach, Calif., just shy of the Mexican border. Read more »TV Fashion - P.J. Franklin of 'My Boys'
Female sportswriters are a rare breed. Female sportswriters portrayed on television are an even rarer breed. But P.J. Franklin (Jordana Spiro) of "My Boys" is the perfect depiction of a former tomboy yearning to balance her feminine side with her rough and tumble, one-of-the-boys demeanor. She's sugar, she's spice, and she'll drink you under the table and pound you on poker night. Read more »TV Fashion: Michael Westen of ‘Burn Notice’
Keeping an eye out for style Spies on television and in film tend to be the best-dressed sons of guns you've ever seen. Simon Templar from "The Saint," Napoleon Solo from "The Man from U.N.C.L.E." and, of course, James Bond have set a standard that is now equal parts expected and unrealistic. Playing with fire We're knee-deep into summer, and if you aren't spending 40 percent of your free time behind a grill, you're a major disappointment to us, your family and the 300 cooks who have shows on Food Network. Serving up style on and off the court You know, there's something to be said for looking for love on a television reality show: You earn a decent paycheck, you meet some nice people, and you get enough exposure to put some air under the flailing wings of your sports career. OK, so that might not be the exact way Australian tennis player Mark Philippoussis wants to describe his involvement in "Age of Love", NBC's Monday twist on finding romance on camera. But let's not kid ourselves, if he doesn't get healthy soon, he will forever be associated with the word "love." And in tennis, love is a bad thing. Read more »TV Fashion: 'Sunset Tan'
Grab the remote and some SPF 30 To quote Ulla from "The Producers," "Clothes may make the man, but all a girl needs is a tan!" Truer words were never spoken. And with E! Entertainment Television's new reality series "Sunset Tan", airing Sundays, a little color has never been sexier. Read more »TV Fashion: Elisabeth Hasslebeck on 'The View'
Hasselbeck scores style points "The View," which airs weekdays on ABC, seems like a good idea in theory: four diverse women bringing their distinctive personalities to the table to tackle issues of the day, such as child rearing in the 21st century or, um, Patrick Dempsey's scruff. But, like most good ideas, it fails in practice because four distinctive personalities often feel the need to be heard on top of one another, especially on topics as weighty as McDreamy. Sometimes it's tough to catch the eye of a superhero. ...And the law won In the world of television fashion reporting, crimes against fashion and poorly dressed characters are considered especially heinous. And when it comes to television series based around cops, ugliness can come in many forms. But for Detective Olivia Benson, played by the lovely Mariska Hargitay on "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," style is as integral as the "ching, ching" sound on every Dick Wolf show. Spare shirts Say what you want about Charlie Sheen, but there is no denying the fact that he seems to always land on his feet with a beautiful woman. True, he may have rented a few of them and probably was not on his feet for any real length of time, but the man's got a certain panache that makes us wish we were a little bit more like him. A redhead with ruffles With a title like "How I Met Your Mother," you'd expect this sitcom to have all the innovation and creativeness of a Hush Puppies shoebox - rigid, formulaic and square. OK, technically, shoeboxes have a rectangular shape, but you know what we mean. However, the show is a sleeper thanks in large part to Lily Aldrin, played by "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" alum Alyson Hannigan. While not exactly stylish, Lily seems to be trying, and that is enough to give her the nod this week. Read more »TV Fashion: Gordon Ramsay of 'Hell's Kitchen' (FOX)
Great taste in the 'Kitchen' In the world's finest restaurants, presentation counts for almost as much as the taste: A sundial of French-cut green beans beside a trapezoid of snow peas adjacent to a rosebud-sculpted radish balancing near a pyramid of salmon tartare with chocolate sauce drizzled over each in a hieroglyphic pattern. Um, very pretty. While none of that may actually enhance the flavor, it goes a long way to justifying the $75 charge on your expense account. Give your sleeves an atomic drop Stylistically speaking, the world of professional wrestling has given us so much: the charming kilt of Rowdy Roddy Piper, the insane sunglasses and feather boas of Macho Man Randy Savage, the 41-inch-long legs of the lovely Stacy Keibler. But no one has done more for the tear-away muscle shirt, the bandanna or the monster mustache than the man who made professional wrestling what it was a few years ago: Hulk Hogan. She may be lost, but her fashion sense remains If we've said it once, we've said it a thousand times: The show "Lost" has us flummoxed. OK, we've said it once. It just seems to us that being stuck on a South Pacific island for that amount of time would have rendered their clothing useless long before they found the laundry room in the hatch. Seriously, these people should be naked. Read more »TV Fashion: Simon Cowell of 'American Idol' (FOX)
The votes are in and the truth hurts Under most circumstances, we try and discuss the positive aspects of a television personality's style - Candice Bergen's elegance, Tony Shalhoub's monochromatic love of brown. Making color a safe bet Under most circumstances, we'd like to think that whatever happens in Vegas stays in Vegas - the ugly carpets, the losing streaks, the cheesy Elvis impersonators. But when we're talking about the smooth sartorial styling of James Lesure's character, Mike Cannon, on "Las Vegas," we'd be OK with that look going international. Hot and never bothered Growing up in 1960s Miami had to be tough for the character Horatio Caine of "CSI: Miami." The poor kid must have stuck out like a sore thumb in a world of tan toes. Read more »TV Fashion: Adrian Monk from 'Monk' (USA)

College style that speaks for itself OK, so the show recently ended after seven seasons. And sure, not that long ago we featured Lorelai in TV Fashion. But when a show is as stylish - in every meaning of the word - as "Gilmore Girls" (repeats air Tuesdays on The CW), it deserves one more look before heading into perpetual syndication. So this week we take a look at the fashion stylings of Rory Gilmore, played by Alexis Bledel. Read more »TV Fashion: Corey Haim of `The Two Coreys'

This is a bit of a stretch for Telefashion. James Brown used to sing "It's a Man's Man's Man's World." But on television, it feels a lot more like a woman's world: "Desperate Housewives," "The View" and "Ugly Betty" have more estrogen than Jessica Alba (yep, she's all woman). But finally, ABC has realized this oversight and given us "Big Shots" airing Thursdays after "Grey's Anatomy." Read more »TV Fashion: Serena from 'Gossip Girl'
What would television be like in a communist state, where everyone is poor and has no option but to dress in gray overalls? You've got to figure that each episode would feature someone named Natasha standing quietly in a bread line. Which makes a show such as The CW's "Gossip Girl," airing Wednesdays, just one more reason to appreciate capitalism. For without it, would we have snobby, snotty teenagers driving new BMWs, shopping with Daddy's credit cards at Bloomingdale's and preoccupied with gossip blogs and text messaging? Nope. Can I get an amen? Read more »Advertisement
